Anaru & Frank Heke

it was 1941and 25th March and Anaru and Frank Heke , set off to Maori Battlion and fought for freedom for New Zealand. They travled to alot of places from Galipoli to italy. Anaru and Frank were both in Company C. (Te Arawa). He and Frank are my Great Grand uncle. I think they were the age of 16 or 18. I think it was such a heroic thing to do and im glad they did.
This is Anaru Heke I couldnt get a photo of Frank Heke.

DEAR DIARY...

Dear Diary
Today this strange man came into the prison with about 4 guards; he looked at me as if I was supposed to know who he was. He told me his name Adolf Hitler and that he was a part of Nazi. I was like was hast du getan? And he replied Ich tötete jüdischen und afrikanischen Menschen i saw him sitting miserably by himself in his cell writing some type of book, it was pretty odd.
The end

MY HAIKU

That is still Germany's Goal
   They did not succeed

The flares flooding out of its trunk,
Pushing out its poison bullet
Our tracks chomping and crushing
Destroying anything that gets in its way.

FRIDAYS PROVERB

Te anga karaka, te anga koura, kei kitea te Marae

The shells of the karaka berry, and the shells of the crayfish, should not be seen from the Marae

Although this clearly has a hygienic undertone, it also refers to discipline. A tribe or war party who disregards organization and has no concern for where they leave their rubbish and gear reflects poor leadership and discipline, thus becoming easy prey for a more regimented force.

To me this means clean up behind yourself or you have poor leadership.

Thursday 26 July 2012

THURSDAY PROVERB

E koekoe te tūī, e ketekete te kākā, e kūkū te kererū.

The tūī chatters, the parrot gabbles, the wood pigeon coos.
Its popular meaning ‘It takes all kinds of people...’
The tui is used as a symbol of oratory (speaking).

To me this means when you have more than one person you can do anything
